Locals and womenfolk of Langol Ningthou Leikai, Imphal West staged a sit-in at the same locality, demanding justice in the alleged rape of an 11 year girl at Langol Ningthou Leikai allegedly by O Tomba Singh of Thanga on November 28.The protestors also strongly reacted against the allegations of O Mangi (father of the accused) through the media on December 1 and termed the allegations against the locals and local club of Langol Ningthou Leikai as complete lies and an attempt to- mislead the movement against the alleged rape incident.
Mention may be made here that Mangi presently residing at Langol Ningthou Leikai, Imphal West had alleged that he and one of his sons O Lemba (elder brother of the accused) were assaulted by a group of people/locals on November 29 on the charge that he (Mangi) failed to hand over his youngest son Tomba in an alleged molestation case on November 28.Mangi had even alleged that the group of people and members of the local club had threatened his family to vacate their house at Langol Ningthou Leikai as well as all rooms he had rented out in the same locality.
The father had also claimed that a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh and jewellery made of 20 sans were found missing after the incident.
Speaking to reporters on the sideline of the sit-in-protest, secretary of Welfare Organization, Langol Ningthou Leikai Y Rajesh clarified that there was no incidence of mob violence or assaulting the father and elder brother of the accused.
Further stating that a brief scuffle ensued between the families of the accused and some womenfolk of Langol Ningthou Leikai on November 28, the secretary alleged that the scuffle broke out due to the arrogance of Mangi, the father of the accused.
Rajesh asserted that the womenfolk approached Mangi to hand over his son to the police as promised to the locals the previous night.
Maintaining that Mangi used harsh words against the womenfolk and even asked them not to disturb him, the secretary claimed that the executive members of the local club and senior citizens of Langol Ningthou Leikai had even called up the police which prevented the incident from spiralling out of control.
Furious with the baseless charges, Rajesh demanded that the alleged rape case cannot be diverted by any attempt and the justice should be delivered at the earliest.
