Drugs seized

Imphal, February 04 2013:
Thoubal district police commandos seized contraband drugs worth over Rs 45 lakh in different operations on February 2 .
According to a statement, Thoubal district police commandos conducted search operation at Pallel Bazar on Feb 2 and found a suspected Maruti Van (AS-01/AN/0683) .
On being checked, 21 packets of Pseudoephedrine containing 9,000 strips worth about Rs 31.5 lakh were recovered.
The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Md Atomba (24) s/o Md Abdul Khalip alias Md Nurulhei (driver); Md Abdul Kalam (29) s/o Md Abdul Salam; Md Kurban Ali (21) s/o Md Amuba; Md Abdul Noor (40) s/o (L) Md Kashim, all from Sangaiyumpham Puleipokpi Salam Macha and Md Abash Khan (22) s/o Md Ayub Khan of Moreh Ward No 5.They were arrested by the police.
The same day around 8pm, 21 packets of Pseudoephedrine containing 89,300 tablets were recovered from another Van (AS-01/AN/068) .
The police arrested the occupants of the Van identified as Md Noor Mohamad (32) s/o Md Tombi of Lilong Turel Ahanbi (driver) and Md Olijuddin (38) s/o Md Karimuddin of Lilong Sambrukhong.
The approximate value of the seized drugs was worth about Rs 14 lakhs.
