Suspected KNF cadres assault 4 villagers

Imphal, March 02 2012:
At least four villagers under 50 Kangpokpi AC were admitted today at the JNIMS hospitals after they were allegedly beaten by suspected cadres of Kuki National Front (KNF) for not casting vote in favour of an INC candidate.
The victims are identified as Meghanath Bhatri Nepali (40) son of late Bhagirath, Bishnu Mattaraj (48) son of late Bhagiral, Dhanbir Bahadur Gurung (40) son of Dh Randhiraj and Ram Bahadur Gurung (40) son of Tin Bahadur.
All of them are residents of Kangpokpi Prasan village under Kangpokpi PS.
They were allegedly assaulted by heavily armed suspected KNF cadres last midnight after taking them out of the village at gun point.
They were asked to whom they cast their votes and beaten black and blue by the armed cadres when they told them that they cast their votes for Trinamool Congress.
The victims have also been reportedly asked to leave their village if ever Trinamool Congress candidate win the election.
Gorkha Welfare Union, Bhartiya Gorkha Prasangh, Gorkha Students' Union and Gorkha Women's Welfare Association have strongly condemned the brutal assault.
