Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign launched at Chandel, Ukl & Kamjong

In connection with the one month Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign, a rally dispersing awareness about the disease was taken out from Molnoi to Pallel today.
Organised by District Health Society, Tengnoupal, the rally was participated largely by students of Nemkhochin Memorial School, VM High School, Ideal High School, Catherine Kids Academy who gathered at KBC Centre Church for spreading valuable messages about the deadly diseases.
Slogans on importance of vaccination to prevent the diseases were shouted, reports our correspondent.
Meanwhile, the Measles-Rubella campaign for Chandel district was launched by Chandel Deputy Commissioner, Krishnakumar at Mini Secretariat hall, DC Chandel office complex today.
DC, Chandel, Krishnakumar, ADC Chandel Member Dy Holngam Anal, ZEO Chandel L Nabakumar, CMO Chandel Dr Romy Ngoru attended the ceremony as dignitaries.
The launching event was followed by an awareness rally around Japhou Bazar, Chandel in which Royal Riders Chandel and locals participated.
The rally was wrapped up at the Mini Secretariat complex.
On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja today launched Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign (MRVC) for Ukhrul and Kamjong districts at Mini Secretariate Office Complex, Hamleilkhong, Ukhrul.
Before the launching programme, the District Immunization office (DIO) organized an awareness rally on the diseases and its vaccination campaign from old District Hospital Kamphasom to Mini Secretariate Office Complex.
ICDS, ZEO, ADC Ukhrul, private schools and other departments of the district extended their support in the MRVC campaign.
The DC, Ukhrul who attended as the chief guest of the launching programme underlined the important role of departments in sensitizing the public on M&R and to make a free Measles and Rubella district in the State.
Meanwhile, the reigning beauty queen of Hunphun/Ukhrul, Luira A S Khanrinla Zimik, who took a vital role in promoting the campaign, appealed all the parents to support the movement in eliminating Measles and Rubella by 2020.Children from the age of 9 months to 15 years would be given free Measles and Rubella vaccination from March 26 till April 30.The vaccination will be carried out at every school in the district and children who had vaccinated for measles earlier should be revaccinated within a one month time.
According to DIO, the vaccination target for Ukhrul and Kamjong are 50,202 children.
Dr Vijay Deokar, mentor WHO also spoke about the diseases while stressing that timely vaccination can prevent such diseases and death among children.
The rally was participated by CMO, MS, DPM, ZEO, Ukhrul & Kamjong, DIs, doctors, nurses, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, Ukhrul ADC staff and school children.
The launching programme of MRVC was organized by District Immunization office, Ukhrul under the aegis of District Health Mission, Ukhrul.
