ATSUM protest call supported across state

Villages in Kangpokpi district organised symbolic demonstration on Sunday in support of the ADC Bill 2021.The protest also demanded a special session of Manipur Legislative Assembly to table the Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill, 2021 recommended by the Hill Areas Committee.
Villages that participated in the demonstration, according to KSO Sadar Hills, are Saikul, Saikul Hill Town and adjoining areas, Bunglung, C Aisan, Twinomjang, N Zilphai, Gangpijang, L Phaijang, Kangchup Chiru, Kangchup Ponlen, Nakhujang, Ireng Naga, Kangchup Bethel, Kangchup Chingkhong, K Chiru, L Munlai, Peniel, Khunkho Kuki, L Saronphai, Haraothel, Leilon Vaiphei, Leilon Khunou, L Phaikot, Salem Lhouthang, P Molding, Ch Ebenezer, NC Phai, Kangchup Patbung, Kangchup Twikun, K Geljang, Happy Valley, Leimakhong, Hengjang Leimakhong, Sadar Joute, Nungte Chiru, Thangbuh, T Mongbung, Khoripok, L Janglenphai, Manamjang, lower Pholjang, Leikot, K Lhangnom, Khengjang, Motbung, Pangmol, G Songlung, Songpi, Sapormeina, Lower Khengjang, Kangpokpi Town, Gamgiphai and Mongtung.
The protestors in various locations were seen organising candlelight vigil in protest against the failure to table the ADC Bill, 2021 in the assembly while endorsing the ongoing movement for securing the Constitutional Rights of tribals vis-a-vis the demand for tabling of the ADC Bill.
KSO Sadar Hills general secretary Thangtinlen Haokip said that such collective support demonstrated by all the tribal villages in the state in favour of the Bill was extremely significant considering that they are the fundamental institutions of the tribal populace.
SENAPATI: Different villages in Senapati district extended symbolic support to the ADC Bill, 2021 with banner and placards, asking the state legislative assembly to table the bill at the earliest.
According to reports, Laii villages neighbouring Phek district in Nagaland in the west and bordering Jessami, Ukhrul district in the east and Chingmai Khunou (Zhobumai) village bordering Chingjaroi, Ukhrul district voiced their support for the ADC bill.
Addressing media persons, Pung Mark, president Senapati District Students Association, stated that they expressed their resentment and showed their support for the ADC Bill recommended by the HAC.
UKHRUL: Extending their support for ATSUM's movement for MADC Bill 2021, public in different villages across Ukhrul and Kamjong districts on Sunday staged demonstrations.
The demonstrations were carried out by different units of Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong(TKS).
The public in different parts of the twin districts took part in the demonstrations by holding banners inscribed with "We Support the Manipur (Hill Areas) ADC Bill 2021 Recommended by HAC; Convene Special Session of Manipur Legislative Assembly and Table the Bill".
According to TKS, a total of 123 Tangkhul villages including 14 Kuki villages in the districts supported the symbolic demonstration under one banner.
TKS took out the solidarity movement by demonstrating a banner display at different villages of the districts, unde'r the aegis of ATSUM which called for a symbolic demonstration in all tribal villages of the state on October 17, 2021 .
CHANDEL: As a part of protest movement launched by ATSUM in support of Manipur (Hills Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill 2021, Naga Students Union Chandel (NSUC) and its constituent units Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO), Naga Women Union Chandel (NWUC) and Naga Chiefs Association launched protests at several areas of Chandel districts demanding to table the bill in the state assembly.
NSUC president Sk Joseph Lamkang informed that students and the people staged protest in support the ADC Bill 2021 and demanded tabling of the bill in the state assembly at 650 different areas in Chandel district.
