Speaking to media persons at the spot this afternoon, Lutngam Manlun, chairman of Joint Monitoring and Development Committee on IT Road Kangpokpi to Tamei, said that it has become very difficult for the people of Twilang area as the landslide occurred during this time of pandemic.
There are fourteen Community Quarantine Centres set up in the area and the road is the only lifeline of the villagers.
He said he is worried if the road is not reconstructed soon much health related problems are likely to come up added that the works of the local MLAs, Ministers and elected representatives are not satisfactory.
"The condition of the road has clearly demonstrated how sincere and committed they are towards their people," he said and appealed to the Government to restore the road at the earliest.
Kohopou Charenamei, vice chairman of Thonglang Atongba village authority also appealed to the Government to look into the grievances of the affected villagers whose houses are on the verge of collapsing and provide essential items apart from initiating immediate action to reconstruct the road.
He said, though Twilang road passes through Tadubi, Tamei, Kangpokpi and Saitu Assembly Constituencies and has three Ministers and an MLA in the present Government, nothing concrete has been done to improve the condition of the road for the past many years.
No officials or representatives of the Government have visited the spot till today despite being informed moments after the landslide occurred, he added.
