Imphal, August 18 2019: Numerous Meitei and Meitei Pangal associations, namely the All Manipur Ethnical Socio Cultural Organization (AMESCO), the All Manipur Muslim Development Committee (AMMDC), All Manipur Muslim Development Organisation (AMMDO), AMMWDO, the Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) and Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO), have come together to form a committee called Meitei Pangal Khunthok Ningshing Thouram Committee or MEIPAK NINGTHOU Committee.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the committee convenor BK Moirangcha said that the CSOs came together to form the committee on August 5 and appealed to the people and the CSOs, Meira Paibi associations to guide he committee.

On the other hand, the committee's spokesperson Md Rabi Khan said that the Meitei Pangals cannot be compared with other Muslims outside the State and foreign countries.

Even if the religion is same, there are huge differences in identity, culture, ideology etc, he added.

He continued that the committee has started working with experts to protect and preserve the history of the Meitei Pangals and added that the committee plans to identify the day on which Khagemba Ningthou gave the Muslims a chance to stay and live in Manipur thus ensuring the existence of the Meitei Pangals, and to observe the day in a grand manner.
