Don't politicise border row: Gaikhangam

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam on Thursday called upon all the political outfits in the state not to politicise the Indo-Myanmar Border Fencing and territorial integrity issues which are sensitive in nature.
Participating in the Passing out Parade of 8th Batch of Women Police Constable at Manipur Police Training College (MPTC) at Pangei in Imphal East district, Gaikhangam assured the state Government will never compromise on the state boundary and so the people should not worry about the Indo-Myanmar Border Fencing issue.
He said the Government has its own stance on the state boundary and territorial integrity issues which are sensitive in nature.
Hence, the political parties in the Opposition should abstain from politicising over these matters.
Gaikhangam, who is also in charge of the Home, further said after the Passing out Parade of a total of 8, 57 women constables of state police will certainly helpful in a big way in coping with crimes against women and children in the state.
He said despite the financial crunch faced by the state Government, preparations for setting up of a battalion for women police have been almost finished and that more women police will be recruited whenever necessity arises.
The Deputy Chief Minister maintained that police are friends of the people and therefore they must build up good relations with everybody and assured that the Home Department is organising more orientation and auxiliary programmes.
MPTC Director P Doungel administered the oath of office to all the women Constables.
State police DGP MK Das, MLAs and other senior police officials were also present at the occasion.
Gaikhangam also honoured them by presenting mementos and certificates at the occasion.
