Elder plants tree on Langban Tarpan Katpa

Kakching, September 15 2019:
Langban Tarpan Katpa ritual was held at Kakching Mayai Leikai Multipurpose Hall, Kakching with elders praying for the blessings of the forefathers and all departed souls.
Yengkhom Tomba Singh (96) of Kakching Paji Leikai, one of the eldest persons in Kakching, planted Kakching Heining sapling (Spondias mangifera) to mark the event.
Range Forest Officer N Munal Meitei, who organised the Langban Tarpan Heitha Leitha ritual said the event was organised with an aim to encourage tree plantation.
"If we all plant trees commemorating the departed souls, we would be showing our profound respect and also helping the environment," he said encouraging people to plant trees in the name of their departed love ones/family members.
Local elders attended theevent.
