AR organises memorial talks on Maj Kathing

In remembrance of late Major Bob Khathing Ralengnao, 41 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised a seminar on the theme 'Remembering Bob Khathing - His Life,Times and Contribution' at Ukhrul on Tuesday.

Arun K Pandey, DIG, 10 Sector, Assam Rifles graced as the chief guest of the occasion which was attended by the Ukhrul public from different walks of life.
The function was conspicuous with the attendance of Mr and Mrs John Khathing, who is the son and daughter in-law of late Major Kathing, beside other family relations.
On the topical theme, Little Angel School principal Soso Shaiza, VVD executive director Tennyson and late Major Khathing's grandson Nganingsung Raleng enlightened the audience as the speakers.
The resource persons recounted on the various aspect of his life ranging from his early days to his contribution in Army and his influence on the society.
Late Major Kathing was an illustrious military officer, who was one among the first Nagas to be commissioned in Indian Army.
He later assumed many political appointments in the Northeast and served as India's ambassador to Yangoon (Rangoon), Myanmar.
Meanwhile, the final football match of the second edition of Major Bob Khathing Memorial Cup will be played between FC Khanglei and Star United at Somsai on Wednesday.
In 2011, the first edition was organised by the 17th Assam Rifles at Tangkhul Naga Long ground in Ukhrul with the participation of nine teams from the Ukhrul district.
The memorial football tourney organised by 41 AR this year witnessed a participation of 12 clubs from across
the state.

Pandey expressed thanks to the speakers for enlightening the audience while stating that it his story is great motivation to the younger generation.
