Panchayat leaders accused of fraudulent withdrawal

Leirongthel Ningel Gram Panchayat pradhan Moirangthem Ingocha and its secretary L Budhachandra have been accused of fraudulently withdrawing over Rs 11 lakhs by forging signatures of a committee functionaries.
Speaking to newspersons at the Paona Bazar office chamber of Human Rights Law Network today, member cum spokesperson of Vigilance and Monitoring Committee Mutum Tikendrajit alleged that Ingocha and Budhichandra had withdrawn Rs 11,58,014.75 by forging signatures of the Committee members.
The said amount is said to have been sanctioned/released for road side drainage construction work from Chandrakhong to Main Canal implemented under the MGNREGS programme.
the said work was sanctioned and subsequently completed in 2010-11 with the Vigilance and Monitoring Committee constituted to oversee the assigned task is carried out with strict adherence to quality control.
While informing that a complaint had already been lodged to State Public Information Officer, Thoubal CD Block seeking detailed information on the matter, Tikendrajit maintained that the case has been formally intimated to the Principal Secretary (RD&PR) for appropriate punitive action against the two accused persons.
