NIA Court directs Sajiwa Jail

Special Court, NIA, Manipur has directed both the NIA and Sajiwa Manipur Central Jail authority, to speed up transit process of MLA Yamthong Haokip regarding his treatment at Cardio-Thoracic Centre AIIMS, New Delhi.
The order was pass today after the Court filed a case following a letter sent by the Superintendent of Sajiwa Central Jail on November 9 and 12 in connection with the present health status of the MLA who has been lodged in judicial custody in the security ward of JNIMS under medical treatment since August 24 .
The order mentioned that as per the letter, the MLA had locked the door of special ward JNIMS from the inside and failed to open the door even after repeated knocking by the authorities.
When the door was forcibly opened, it was found that Yamthong Haokip had collapsed in the bathroom.
It continued that as per the letter of November 12, it was reported that since the last 2 days, the MLA was not taking any medicine or food, was not talking well to his doctor and was repeatedly talking about suicide apart from showing aggressive behaviour, sudden outburst, sudden excessive crying etc.
The Court order directed the SP, JNIMS, to make necessary arrangements for round the clock vigil of the attending doctors and nurses and also to get psychiatric examination of the accused MLA.
Further it directed SP of Imphal East to provide adequate security arrangements in and around the security ward.
It may be mentioned that the Special Court NIA, on November 6, had directed the MLA to be treated at Cardio-Thoracic Centre AIIMS New Delhi, in view of his deteriorating health condition.
It had also directed the authorities of NIA to move -the Special Court NIA New Delhi for making security arrangement while the accused is getting treatment at AIMS.
It also directed the SP of Sajiwa Manipur Central Jail to provide escort for the MLA at Delhi.
Taking note of the present development as reported by the SP Sajiwa Jail, the Court directed both the NIA and Sajiwa Jail to speed up the proceedings regarding the transit of the MLA.
The Court also ordered all the permitted family members and attendants (wife of the accused, any children, PRO and an attendant) be given access at all times and in any combination, until the MLA is transferred to AIIMS.
It further mentioned that the SP of Sajiwa Manipur Central Jail is at liberty to approach the higher authority in the event of any hurdle in the arrangement for transit of the accused and fixed November 20 for production of the accused MLA.
