Imphal, September 10 2018:
Claiming that the All India bandh imposed by All India Congress Committee (AICC) and like-minded political parties against fuel price hike, has been successful in the State and all over India, Manipur State Council, CPI State Secretary L Sotinkumar stated that the public support given to the bandh proves that the people do not want the BJP Government anymore.
Addressing a press meet held at Irawat Bhawan today Sotinkumar expressed gratitude to the people of the State for cooperating during the bandh and showing solidarity to the Left parties in condemning the ruling BJP Government both in the State and at the Centre for the unreasonable hike in fuel price and many other essential commodities.
He asserted that the Narendra Modi led NDA Government at the Centre has only caused suffering to the public by implementing anti-people policies one after the other.
Despite the adverse impacts of demonetization that severely impacted the poor people and led to loss of several lives while standing in queues in front of ATMs, the NDA Government is still continuing to loot the resources of the poor people with the implementation of many anti-people economic policies, such as GST.
The economic policy of the NDA Government has only made the millionaires and rich people richer while the poor and needy people are only made to bear the brunt of continuous price hike of essential commodities and fuel, he charged.
However, both the NDA Government at the Centre and the State always make tall claims that they have done much for the welfare of the people although their work and execution are completely in contrast to what they claim and promise.
Now people have realised the publicity stunts of the BJP led Governments in the State as well as in the Centre, Sotinkumar said adding that the support given by the public in today's bandh is solid proof of that fact.
The CPI State secretary further stated that CPI takes important role to combat the ruling BJP government.
"We are getting ready to tackle the Government for its incompetency and for creating apprehensions among the people regarding the border issues, Manipur University issue, Framework Agreement, Article 371 A and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill" he added.
