Senior leader of Manipur People's Party (MPP) Okram Joy has expressed shock over the prevailing condition of Old Assembly Hall from where expensive furniture items have been reportedly removed and distributed among the officials.
Addressing media persons at the MPP office here today, O Joy said that the Old Assembly Hall is a historic place where many landmark legislations and decisions have been made over a period of many decades.
The MPP has apprised the Governor Gurbachan Jagat on preserving the Old Assembly Hall as a "Political Museum", he noted.

He further said that as many as 12 Governors and 12 Chief Ministers of the State including the incumbent Governor Gurbachan Jagat and CM Ibobi had addressed at the Old Assembly Hall.
The Hall is much more than a historical place.
It is indeed a "Temple" for the legislators, Joy averred.
The MPP leader contended that the Old Assembly Hall should be preserved as a "Political Museum" keeping in view of the landmark debates and legislations made by the leaders of the State.
O Joy further decried the removal of expensive chairs from the Hall, and urged the authorities concerned to protect the valuable properties of the Old Assembly Hall from further demolition.
