Innovator Manihar hopes to support poor people

Hailing from an economically backward family, National Awardee Manoharmayum Manihar always desires to bring out new machines that could enhance the socio-economic condition of poor people.
Noted for his innovative water pump and fish dryer, Manihar is now eyeing on mass scale production of Solar Multi Silk and Muga Reeling cum Spinning Machine with an objective to boost the sericulture cottage industries in the State.
Silk reeling has been taken up by women folks in almost every locality of the State.
However, the traditional method of silk reeling is time consuming and hence it could not be much productive.
Manihar's innovative Solar Silk Reeling Machine would overcome the technological deficits and thereof increase productivity in sericulture.
The Solar Silk Reeling Machine is powered both by electric and solar energy for non-stop continuous work.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Manihar said that the total cost for assembling the Solar Silk Reeling Machine is about Rs.23,000, but this would drastically reduce time and manpower besides increasing productivity.
Normally, a person can earn Rs.500 daily using this innovative machine, he noted.
He is currently conducting a workshop on Solar Silk Reeling Machine for 15 entrepreneurs.
The participants would be involved in the production of this machine, Manihar said.
He hopes to raise the socio-economic condition of the people with his innovations.
People can utilize innovative technology for enhancing their livelihood, the National Awardee maintained.
