Poll activities banned in Sadar Hills

The Leader's meet of Sadar Hills which was convened today at the Council Hall Kangpokpi resolved to ban all forms of political activities in Sadar Hills area in connection with the upcoming general assembly election within the month of October.
The closed door leader's meet which was attended by MDCs, MLAs, ex-minister, SAHILCA, women's organization and Church leaders started from 11:30 am and went on till late in the evening.
Briefing media persons after the close door meet, Seikhothang Haokip, spokesperson Sadar Hills District Demand Committee (SHDDC), said that the economic blockade imposed on all NHs of the state will continue until Sadar Hills is converted into a full fledged district.
He asserted that the meet after deliberating on the issue resolved to ban all forms of political activities like campaign or other relevant activities, in connection with the upcoming election within the month of October.
The course of action thereafter will be decided in another round of meeting.
The spokesperson also strongly condemned the arrest warrant issued against the executive members of the SHDDC asserting the government will be held responsible in the event of any unwanted incident caused to the leaders due to the warrant.
He informed that the meet also further resolved to intensify its agitation by mobilizing the issue in the entire districts of Manipur.
Seikhothang further clarified that the allegation made against the SHDDC of issuing permits to allow free passage within the blockade to those trucks burnt in Kangpokpi on the night of September 29, is baseless and unfounded.
The SHDDC did not issue any permit of any forms to the destroyed trucks and have never given permits to anyone, he said.
