ADC poll : Scrutiny okays all 14 in fray

The scrutiny of the nomination papers filed in connection with the election to 10 Constituencies of Ukhrul and Senapati Autonomous District Councils scheduled on October 24 was carried out at Imphal West DC office complex today.
After the scrutiny, all the nomination papers have been cleared.
In all 14 candidates have filed their nomination papers to contest in the election.
Following clearance of the nomination papers in the scrutiny, the returning officers (ROs) of Ukhrul and Senapati have also submitted their respective reports to the State Election Commission later during the day.
The Commission has fixed October 3 as the last date of withdrawing the nomination papers.
Out of the 10 ADC Constituencies which is scheduled to go to poll on October 24, Congress candidates are likely to be declared elected uncontested in seven Constituencies as no other candidates have filed their nomination papers to contest in the election.
In such a situation, the election would be conducted in the remaining three Constituencies, namely Chingai, Chawangnamei and Phaibung Khullen.
