Nagaland Soil Conservation & Land Resources Minister P Logon said the Naga People's Front (NPF) would field as many candidates as possible in the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly elections.
Speaking as chief guest in the opening function of the Maram Khullen Circle Students and Youth Association annual sports meet at Maram Bazar today, Logon said NPF would put up its candidates in all Assembly segments of Manipur inhabited by Nagas.
He also exuded that majority of the NPF candidates would come out victorious.
After changing its constitution and nomenclature, the former Nagaland People's Front was re-christened as Naga People's Front with the objective to provide a platform for integration of Nagas politically and emotionally, Logon stated.
He also recalled that NPF Manipur unit was opened at Senapati on May 28 this year by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
Since the days of British imperialism, Nagas have been kept divided by artificial geographical and administrative boundaries, he said and asserted that Nagas should not forget their forefathers and pioneers who started the Naga national movement.
The NPF would stand firm for the principle and objective of bringing all the Nagas under one administrative roof.
Lauding performance of Manipur in national and international sports events, the Minister asserted that Nagas are one community who cannot be separated from sports, saying there were many skilful and excellent players among Nagas.
Hailing efforts of Maram community to preserve their traditions and culture, he lamented that such concerted efforts could not be seen among other Naga tribes.
Nagaland MLA Deo Nukhu and Tadubi AC MLA K Raina were also present at the opening ceremony.
