24618 job card holders in Tamenglong

Imphal, May 18 2011:
As many as 24618 job cards were issued for 282 villages of Tamenglong district under the MGNREGS in Tamenglong, said C Arthur W, SDO Tamenglong speaking as a resource person on MGNREGS on the second day of the three day Bharat Nirman campaign at Tamenglong district.
He said with the coming of MGNREGS, many IVRs, play grounds, approach roads to paddy fields, number of farms, etc.
have come up.
All work under MGNREGS are planned by villagers in the general body meeting of the village which will be forwarded to the BDO, the state and the centre for approval.
To guide the job card holders, one mate system also introduced for every 50 job cards, he said.
To ensure transparency in implementation of MGNREGS in the district the villagers conducted a 'social' audit along with the village authority.
With the election of the ADC, MGNREGS will be looked after by the Executive Director as District Programme Coordinator, he said.
Speaking as a resource person on Indira Awas Yojana, IAY, Acham Kamei, Project Officer DRDA, said that as many as 1255 households were constructed during 2010 to 2011.Of these 1255 households 710 are new constructions and 545 households were upgraded.
At present there are 10,000 households listed in the Permanent Waiting List (PWL) of people living under BPL, he said.
He said that for new construction each beneficiary is given ' 48,500 and ' 15,000 for upgradation, both in two installments.
The PWL has not been prepared serial wise.
He also said that the state government has not been able to identify persons living under BPL.
In the meantime, Students of United Builders School students and the public took out a rally with placards and banners in connection with the Bharat Nirman Public Campaign organized at Tamenglong district HQs by PIB Imphal.
