CM goes on inauguration spree in Thoubal district

Imphal, December 24 2011: Chief Minister O Ibobi inaugurated the 100 bedded Thoubal District Hospital, the Thoubal Market Complex and the Mini Secretariat today.

Hundreds of people thronged the inaugural function from different parts of Thoubal district even causing traffic jam in the Thoubal bazaar area.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister O Ibobi said that in order to bring about a good administration in the state, the three pillars of democracy namely, the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary need to be strengthened, only then, the true democracy will surface.

Not only this, the administration should be decentralized at the district level.

To help the District Commissioner in pursuing the administrative works of the district smoothly, Mini Secretariats are being set up in different districts of the state.

Tamenglong has been inaugurated.

The Mini Secretariats in Churachandpur, Chandel and Bishnupur will also be inaugurated in 2012 .

He further stated that in order to check and control corruption in the state, the Lok Ayukta Bill has also been passed by the State Assembly.

The implementation of this bill will not even spare the Chief Minister if he is found guilty of corruption.

The government is giving priority in the law and order, education and health sectors to develop it.

He also highlighted that various Police stations at Heirok, Nongpok Sekmai, Khongjom and Hiyanglam.

There are plans to built various Police outpost in the near future.

The development programmes taken up in the district of Thoubal does not necessarily means that all development programs are done only in the district.

The function was also attended by Works Minister K Ranjit, Health Minister L Jayentakumar, MLA Meghachandra, O Landhoni, Oken and other top officials of different departments.

The Thoubal District Hospital inaugurated today was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 26 crores.

NBCC, the work agency had started the construction process in 2006 .

The Hospital has an OPD block, Maternity and OT block, Pathology block, Ward block and staffs quarter.

The Thoubal Market Complex comprising of blocks A and B is constructed at a cost of Rs 49.1129 crores while the Thoubal Mini Secretariat was also constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 36.72 crores in the year 2005 .

There are six division offices, a multi purpose hall with a seat capacity of 550 persons.

A single room transit hostel with 30 rooms and security barracks.
