Imphal, June 08, 2013:
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also the President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), has alleged that the Opposition Parties which are in alliance with Naga People's Front (NPF) are supporting the NPF's objective of disintegrating the State.
He was addressing a one-day political conference organized by Langthabal Block Congress Committee at Chajing Haraobung Hall here today.
Gaikhangam further said that the Congress Party stands firm on the territorial integrity of the State even to the extent of taking a resolution in this regard in the State Legislative Assembly.
However, the alliance of Opposition Parties with NPF is very unfortunate for the people as the sole objective of NPF is to disintegrate Manipur and not to bring development, he contended.
The Congress Party is not a power-monger.
It is a responsible party of a democratic country unlike other political parties which only talk without any obligation to the people.
The Opposition Parties would soon die out in want of people's trust and support, Gaikhangam maintained.
Deputy Chief Minister further maintained that the Congress Party is the oldest political party in the country which has been playing important roles since the time of Freedom Movement.
The Party stands firm for the welfare of the common people.
Various programmes and policies taken up by UPA government are the testimonies of the Party's dedication and commitment to the people, he added.
The conference was also attended by MP Dr T Meinya, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, PHED Minister I Hemochandra, General Secretary of MPCC Bidyapati Senjam and other office bearers of MPCC.
