KAMA pledges to safeguard State's integrity

Along with reaffirmation to continue working for protection of territorial integrity of Manipur and fight for social justice, the 11th
Foundation Day of Kabui Mothers' Association (KAMA) was celebrated today at Namthalong Community Hall here.
The celebration was attended by MLA of
Thangmeiband A/C Kh.
Joykisan as chief-guest, President KAMA Kakomlunglu Kamei as functional president while President of Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur
& Nagaland) Amu Kamei, Vice-Chairperson of Imphal Municipal Council Ph.
Thambaljao and village chief of Namthalong Poushong Rongmei as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Joykisan proposed that KAMA should work together with other civil societies of the state to uproot the burning issue of drug
trafficking and its negative impacts on the society.
Stating that he will stand against the government if its policies and programmes are against the
interest of the people, the MLA questioned why the India and Manipur Governments are taking more than 25-30 years to develop NH-37.

Earlier, delivering the key-note-address of the function, KAMA General Secy Ranjita Golmei highlighted the reasons for establishment of KAMA in August 2004 and its achievements so far.
She also added that KAMA will strongly stand to protect the territorial integrity and sense of bonding between the indigenous people.
AMUCO President Y.Mani Khuman, ICHAM President N.Rajendro (Boy), Tammee Chingmee Apunba Lup President S.Momon Leima were among other CSO leaders who were present and spoke on the occasion attended by members of various civil societies, women associations, student bodies and bureaucrats of the state.
KAMA came into being on 7th August 2004 during the mass protest against the murder of Th.Manorama by Assam Rifles personnel.
Since then, it has been taking part in several issues of the state.
It has also taken a great role in solving the rape case of u-morok seller Jamthailung recently.
