Imphal, April 06 2011:
The SPF Govt calls it developmental works and remains smug under the impression that the ongoing works, especially in Imphal would bring immense benefits to all, but ironically these very works have today come to pose a serious threat on the life and security of the citizens.
A motor cyclist was thrown off his vehicle into a nearby ditch after he collided with a culvert, which is still under construction, at the Nityapat Chuthek-Jail Road juncture.
There is no sign board or any signs to indicate the incomplete work.
There are many other such points in Imphal, including the digging up process being taken up on either side of NH-39 along Kanglapat road where there is a diversion towards Thangal bazar.
The motorcyclist has been admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
The incident occurred at around 9.30 pm yesterday.

The motorcyclist was coming from Jail Road side when his motor cycle rammed against the incomplete culvert as the area around was dark.
The motorcyclist sustained multiple head injuries.
When the incident was reported to the police station, the personnel manning station maintained that it was not their jurisdiction.
Only after around one hour of the incident, a police team led by an SI of the Imphal Police Station came and took the injured motorcyclist to the hospital.
When The Sangai Express today contacted the police top get the details of the road mishap as well as the conditions of the motor cyclist, the Imphal police station maintained that no such report has been received.
