Dimapur, February 04 2013:
Security has been beefed up in Nagaland as part of the electioneering process directed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) .
Reports said that even the baggages of VIPs are not spared by the security personnel.
Sources also said that the Static Surveillance team popularly known as 'flying squads' are being prepared for positioning at the non-commercial helipads whenever VIPs or leaders of political parties are scheduled to visit any place by choppers.
The State administration is carrying out its activities following strong directives from the ECI.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland J Alam has directed to all the Deputy Commissioners and District Election Officers (DEOs) to enforce the instructions strictly.
J Alam has also instructed that all passengers irrespective of rank and status are to be frisked.
The CEO however, said that for persons with Z+ security though physical frisking may not be proper, their baggages are not to be spared while checking.
Meanwhile, with only 19 days to go for the Assembly polls, election fever has started to grip the people.
People have started moving around with the flags of their respective candidates or political parties.
Public meetings and feasting are also on the rise.
However, till date not a single case of election related violence has been reported from anywhere in the State.
At the moment, it is the Naga People's Front (NPF) and the Congress party which are at loggerheads.
When a tough candidate is fielded in a particular constituency by the NPF, the Congress answered it by reciprocating with even tougher candidate and vice versa.
Talks of the town are, "Who will come out with majority seatsCongress or the NPF?" .
Meanwhile, the BJP is giving its best effort to make its presence felt in the ensuing Assembly election of Nagaland.
Central BJP leaders headed by PB Acharya and Tapir Gao are currently camping in Nagaland.
The BJP has said that working for expediting the Naga peace process is one of its priorities.
