Central leaders troop in ahead of PM's visit

Ahead of the proposed visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on December 3, central leaders have started arriving one after another.
Even as North East in-charge of the Congress party Luizinho Faleiro landed here today, Union Minister of DoNER Paban Singh Ghatowar is expected to follow suit tomorrow.
According to a reliable source, Falerio arrived at Imphal today to take stock of the preparations being made in connection with the proposed visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on December 3 .
Upon arrival here, Falerio went around along with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to inspect the places where Prime Minister Dr Manmohan and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi would be visiting to inaugurate various projects.
President of MPCC Gaikhangam, Minister of Works K Ranjit and Chairman of PDA Dr Kh Loken were also among others present during the inspection tour covering the newly constructed complexes of Assembly and High Court at Chingmeirong, ISTB at Khuman Lampak, City Covnention Centre and MFDC Hall at Palace Compound.
On the other hand, Union Minister of DoNER Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar would also be landing at Imphal in the morning tomorrow to assess the preparations being made for the proposed visit Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
It may be noted here that a team of Special Protection Group (SPG), an executive protection agency of the government of India responsible for the protection of the PM, other top officials, and their immediate families had already reached and stationed at Imphal to assist in the security measures being taken up.
The team had also already inspected the security arrangements at the sites where Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi would be visiting.
Meanwhile, the Police Department, government of Manipur has, in a statement, informed of traffic diversion as well as restriction on the roads of Imphal in connection with the visit of VVIPs on December 3 .
The statement said that to provide smooth passage to the visiting VVIPS and also to ensure minimum inconvenience to the public, from 10.30 am onwards, vehicles coming from western side of Tiddim road, Uripok Kangchup Road and going towards the east shall be stopped/diverted at Taubungkhok Lamkhai and Maharani bridge respectively.
All the vehicles coming from Mayai Lambi to the north shall be diverted towards Khagempalli/Pishumthong till the VVIPs reach City Convention Centre.
From 10.30 onwards, vehicles will not be allowed to proceed towards Kangla beyond Singh & Co, Keishampat Junction, Maharani Bridge Junction, Shamu Makhong, BT Road, Khuyathong traffic point, Watham Leirak, MG Avenue, MMTA crossing, Chingmeirong Kabui village crossing and Palace Compound crossing.
Similarly, from 11 am to 1.30 pm, no vehicles shall be allowed to proceed towards Kangla beyond Mantripukhri crossing and Sangakpham crossing and they shall be diverted towards Laipham Khunou via Chingmeirong Kabui village crossing.
Moreover, officials with vehicles shall be allowed to enter Babupara area only from the Singh & Co.
side after showing their identity cards from 10.30 am to 11.30 am.
Visitors to the offices of Babupara area may park their vehicles near Hicham Yaicham Pat.
Traffic arrangement for vehicles carrying passengers for the public meeting at Kangla has also been announced.
Accordingly, people coming to attend the meeting will be allowed entry only from the southern gate of Kangla.
All the vehicles coming from the western side of Sanjenthong will drop the people near the southern gate of Kangla and proceed to Hafta Kangjeibung for parking till 1 pm.
Vehicles coming from the eastern side of Sanjenthong shall drop the people near Palace Copound crossing and park at Hafta Kangjeibung, and the people will proceed to Kangla on foot from here.
From 10 am onwards, all the vehicles carrying people for attending the meeting at Kangla shall be diverted to Hafta Kangjeibung from Singjamei traffic point via Thumbuthong bridge and also from Khabam Lamkhai.
The movement of public and vehicles will resume after VVIPs' arrival at New ISTB.
Henceforth, the vehicles coming from eastern side of Sanjenthong will be diverted at GPO Junction towards Yaiskul until the VVIPs reach the airport.
The Police Department has appealed to the public not to carry mobile phones/ handbags/ matches/ umbrellas/ water bottles and inflammable articles while coming to attend the meeting at Kangla.
Lockers/safe custody for these items will not be provided and any person possessing any of these items shall not be allowed to enter Kangla.
