Letkholal killing: KSO extends deadline to nab killers by 4 days; protest staged at RIMS

Imphal, June 27 2017: The Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO)'s 48-hour deadline served to the authority to nab all culprits involved in the killing of president of Haokip Students' Organisation (HSO) has been extended by four days.

The decision came after a meeting of KSO General Headquarters on Monday, informed a press statement issued by KSO GHQ vice president Sasang Vaiphei.

"The KSO has duly considered the police authority's request for more time as significant progress has been made in the ongoing investigation into the assassination of HSO president Letkholal," the statement said.

However, the KSO is resolute of its decision not to claim the body of the HSO president until the assailants who killed him are arrested, it said.

HSO president Letkholal@Palal was assassinated by unknown assailants at his Langol Games village residence on June 23 evening.

The assassination drew strong condemnations from many student organisations and tribal bodies.

The statement also reiterated KSO's demand for clarification from all involved on the assassination of Lekholal and vowed not to sit back until justice is delivered.

: Meanwhile, Family members and various civil organisations today staged sit-in-protest at RIMS morgue against the brutal killing of Letkholal @ Palal Haokip on June 23, 2017 .

Speaking to the media persons, Albert Haokip, President of Haokip Student's organisation said that the join bodies of various civil organisations has resolved to continue its movement against the brutal killing of Letkholal @ Palal Haokip in a meeting held on June 23, 2017 .

An ultimatum to book the culprit within 48 hours was also given to the concern department and state government but so far no positive response, he added.

Albert also said that the investigation authority team has appeal to the KSO General Head Quarter to give another 4 more days time, as the investigation authority fails to book the culprits, w.e.f today onwards.

The civil organisations strongly condemn and appeal any organisations involved in the brutal killing of Letkholal @ Palal Haokip to surrender before the public with full reasons of the killing, he added.

Albert further said that the KSO and civil organisations will not claim the dead body of the deceased until and unless the culprits are book and put behind bar with befitting punishment.

If the state government and concern department fails in its given 4 days time assurance to book the culprits, all the civil organisations will take up series of agitations from the next day, he added.

Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), Kuki Student's organisation General Head Quarter (KSO), Haokip People's Council (HPC), Haokip Student's Organisation Head Quarter (HSO), Civil Society Organisations, kangpokpi and Churachandpur District Women Wings condemn and took part in the sit-in-protest.
