Two more die, 104 newly infected

Imphal, October 17 2021:
Two more people became victims of Covid-19 while 104 others were found newly infected out of 2347 samples tested on Sunday, registering a positivity rate of 4.43 per cent against 4.38 per cent recorded on Saturday.
Though the overall test positivity rate in the state remains below 5 per cent since the last four days, Kamjong district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 23.7 per cent as 9 new cases were detected out of 38 samples tested while Thoubal saw lowest positivity rate at 0.6 per cent.
Out of the 16 districts, 12 reported Covid cases on Sunday with Imphal West recording highest count at 58.Chandel, Jiribam, Noney and Tamenglong districts were free of new positive cases on Sunday.
The two fatalities reported on Sunday were from Imphal West and none of them had received Covid vaccines.
The cumulative tally of death cases due to Covid-19 has reached 1897 .
The active caseload remains same at 1422 on Sunday out of which 194 (13.64 per cent) are in home isolation.
As of Sunday evening, 573 beds including 102 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities.
So far, the state has recorded 93,337 positive cases and 1523 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has recorded 2153 new cases and 42 fatalities out of which 734 new cases and 12 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 104 new positive cases included 103 people (46 male & 57 female) from among the general population and one member of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
whose samples were detected at RIMS (2), JNIMS (16) and other testing centres (86).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (18), Imphal West (58), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (6), Ukhrul (1), Churachandpur (1), Tengnoupal (1), Senapati (1), Pherzawl (1), Kangpokpi (2) and Kamjong (9) .
In the last 24 hours, 102 patients were discharged from home isolation (14), RIMS (5), JNIMS (14) and CCCs (69) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,22,737 (general population - 1,18,425 and CAPF personnel - 4,312).Number of recovered cases is 1,19,418 (general population - 1,15,132 and CAPF personnel - 4,286) and number of active cases is 1,422 (general population - 1,401 and CAPF personnel - 21) .
The recovery rate is 97.30 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1038 D-type and 199 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
On the other hand, 11,848 vaccine shots were administered on Saturday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated individual to 12,36,143 out of which 5,91,331 are fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (42,641), Imphal East (27,138), Thoubal (9412), Churachandpur (10,106), Kangpokpi (2773), Tamenglong (3272), Bishnupur (9108), Senapati (2217), Ukhrul (2875), Kakching (6374), Chandel (2310), Noney (1066), Tengnoupal (1052), Jiribam (1020), Kamjong (909) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (633), Imphal East (447), Thoubal (172), Churachandpur (160), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (189), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (39), Kakching (111), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,554 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,384 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,32,354 tests per million population against the national average of 4,22,853 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2347 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 4.43 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.15 per cent.
