May Day celebrated

Committee For Socialist Movement Manipur (CSMM) celebrated International Workers Day/May Day with the labourers across the State in different work sites and presented them honorary gifts yesterday.
The event started by paying homage to all the labourers who sacrificed their lives while striving for an equal society for all and Hijam Irabot popularly known as Lamyanba Irabot who worked earnestly for the welfare of the farmers and labourers, said a statement of CSMM.
Later the contributions of the labourers in a society was discussed and stressed on the problems faced by the labourers and the root cause of suoh problems.
The labourers also presented their ordeal amid the ongoing Covid pandemic and its effect on their lives.
Apart from the honorary gifts CSMM also distributed face masks and hand sanitizers to the labourers.
Lastly all the attendees reaffirmed their stand for a biased free society and pledged to pursue it selflessly.
Loyalam Construction Workers Welfare Union also celebrated May Day in a low key manner adhering to Covid SOPs at its office at Kangmong Meisnam Leikai yesterday.
Leader of the Union, Th Sakhi Devi graced the occasion as the president and vice president of Employees Confederation spoke about May Day and its significance.
The union also appealed to the State Government to extend best possible support to the labourers amid the ongoing Covid pandemic and also to provide the labourers with water storage tanks.
All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Manipur State Committee also celebrated May-Day at Irawat Bhawan today.
