National seminar inaugurated

A two-day National seminar on 'Theoretical and Practical issues relating to the concept of Dharma' was inaugurated in the court hall of Manipur University today.
The seminar was organised by the Department of Philosophy, Manipur University and sponsored by Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi.
Prof Adya Prasad Pandey, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University, Prof M Mani Meitei, Dean, School of Humanities, Manipur University, Prof Bhuvan Chandel, former Director, Indian Institutes of Advanced Studies, Shimla graced the function as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof S Shyamkishore Singh, former Dean, School of Humanities Manipur University.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Vice-Chancellor Prof Pandey said, "It is quite appropriate to have academic discourse on such a theme which relates to various issues relating to the concept of Dharma.
The event will serve as an opportunity for initiating a continuous dialogue amongst the scholars drawn from colleges and universities across the country" .
Prof Chandel spoke on Gandhian thoughts including truth, non-violence and Ahimsa.
She said that Gandhi was universally recognised as god of truth.
Prof Mani Meitei said that India is the store house of knowledge and Dharma and added that Vedas and Upanishad have done great job in preserving Dharma.
