Imphal, March 30 2017:
Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD) and Revenue Minister Karam Shyam has vowed to identify and punish all those people who have been earning huge profits out of PDS items.
He was speaking at a felicitation function held in his honour at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound yesterday under the aegis of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Manipur.
While decrying that pseudo-leaders and pseudo-patriots have been earning huge profits out of PDS items meant for distribution to the masses, Karam Shyam promised to check all such unethical practices stringently.
The website dedicated to consumer redressal would be functional at the earliest so as to take note of the grievances of beneficiaries/public.
At the same time, befitting action would be initiated against all wrongdoers.

The earlier practice of swindling PDS items would be rectified and the entire public distribution system would be streamlined.
"This would certainly entail many challenges but I would never shy away from my responsibility", Shyam asserted.
"I would never allow private individuals to occupy and register public places in their own names through lobbying and corruption during my period as Revenue Minister", he continued.
He further pledged that he would never compromise the territorial integrity of Manipur under any circumstances.
"Even though the Government is led by BJP and I'm the lone LJP member, I would always stand for what is right in all critical situations and I would discharge my duties as a Minister with full commitment", Shyam stated.
Observing that underdevelopment and turbulence are the twin features of contemporary Manipuri society, Shyam stated that he would urge the Chief Minister to bring speedy development in the hill areas of the State.
There is no big or small political party nor is there good or bad political party.
It is the leaders and members of political parties which determine their characteristics.
"Out of the 17 LJP candidates fielded in the last State Assembly election, I was the only one who got elected.
As such, the party needs to work harder so as to ensure greater victory next time", Shyam stated.
Some LJP candidates who contested the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election namely Konthoujam Manoranjan (Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC), Moirangmayum Thoiba (Wangoi AC), Khundrakpam Bhabeshwar (Bishnupur) and Mathiupuang Gonmei (Nungba) were also seated on the dais.
