Imphal, August 20, 2012:
Taking serious note over massive exodus of northeasterners from other India cities following alleged threats, All Manipur Christian Organisations (AMCO) has appealed to the fleeing public in general and those affected and afflicted in particular to remain calm and not to resort to any unwanted reaction or fall prey into the hands of communal forces to create more violence.
In a statement issued by its President rev Prim Vaiphei, AMCO informed that an emergency general body meeting was held at MBC yesterday to review the situation and expressed concern for those who have been compelled to return home.
Many have suffered unnecessarily causing more hurt and bitterness.
In such a situation, AMCO would like to appeal to all the churches in Manipur to pray ceaselessly and to restrain their members from taking any unwanted steps that could lead to more violence and destruction.
Furthermore, AMCO observed that this is also a good time to bring together the various community leaders and youths to understand and work for more cordial relationships and long term policies for human dignity and respects for each other rather than resorting to unwanted and unnecessary violence.
