Imphal, February 14 2012:
In total contrast to its earlier stand that it would root out Congress party and form a non-Congress government in the state, People's Democratic Front (PDF), pre-poll alliance of MPP, NCP, JD-U and CPI(M), has categorically asserted that it had never stated that it would not ally with any political party; and there is no hard and fast rule that it cannot ally with the Congress or the NPF in the event of it forming the next government in the state.
Talking to mediapersons here today, President of State Unit NCP Radhabinod Koijam expressed confidence that PDF would come out with the largest number of successful candidates in the election to the State Legislative Assembly Election which was held recently and said that in order to form the next government, PDF would need to ally with other political parties.
In the event of such going for such an alliance with other political parties, PDF may even go with the Congress or the NPF, since there is no hard and fast rule that PDF cannot ally with them, Radhabinod contended.
Replying to a query on the shift in the stand of PDF, Radhabinod prompty stated that if there is shortage in number to form the government, it has to ally with them, there is no option.
"We do not mind any party tying up with the PDF as the four-political party alliance may not obtain absolute majority though it would become the single largest alliance to win in the recent Manipur polls", he added.
