Bishnupur, November 13 2018:
The Thoibi Thang-Ta Cultural Association, Moirang Artists' Association and other Thang-Ta associations in Moirang today appealed the Government for unconditional release of the members and volunteers of Thang-Ta JAC who were arrested by the police recently.
At least 28 members/volunteers of JAC on Thang-Ta Teachers Recruitment were arrested trying to boycott the conduction of the written test for recruitment of higher secondary Lecturers on November 11 .
Thang-Ta associations have been appealing the Government for recruitment of Thang-Ta Lecturers for quite long.
The exclusion of the Thang-Ta Lecturers in the recruitment had led to the agitation and arrests, said a statement of The Thoibi Thang-Ta Cultural Association issued by its secretary today.
Thang-Ta was included as one of the elective subjects from Class IX to XII in 2014 .
Appealing immediate unconditional release of the arrested members and volunteers, the association said that it fully supports the Thang-Ta JAC.
The association further cautioned that it along with the JAC will launch intense agitation if the Government fails to meet their demands.
