Security forces seize drugs

Imphal, February 07 2021:
Troops of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police apprehended three individuals and recovered 50 packets of brown sugar estimated to be worth over Rs 2 crore yesterday.
Acting on specific intelligence from reliable sources, the joint team of Assam Rifles and Bishnupur Police Commando launched a search operation and detained three persons from Kumbi bazar area, who were identified as Sasat Guite and Thangsei Guite, residents of Gamphajol, Churachandpur and Warepam Ramesh Singh a resident of Phubala Awang Leikai, Bishnupur, said a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
The apprehended individuals along with the seized contraband were handed over to Bishnupur Police Station for further investigation, added the statement.
In another instance troops of Kangvai Battalion Assam Rifles and team of Imphal East Commando apprehended two drug peddlers and recovered 75 grams of heroin from Pureiromba Khongnangkhong area yesterday, added the statement.
The apprehended persons were identified as Wahengbam Jameson and Thangjam Chanba both residents of Patsoi Part-I and the recovered contraband was assessed to be worth Rs 30 lakh, added the statement.
