Awareness programme on CPR held

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Studies (NBEMS), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on Wednesday launched a nation-wide awareness programme on Cardiopulmonary Resusci-tation (CPR) training.
The awareness programme was introduced by Dr Abhijat Sheth, President, NBEMS.
A release issued by SKY Hospital & Research Centre Pvt Ltd informed that the video of the awareness programme was also screened at the conference hall of the Hospital at 9.30 am today.
It was participated by all clinical, non-clinical staff of SKY Hospital, teachers and student nurses of Nightingale Nursing Institute, Porompat.
During the event, Dr Shyamkishore Larikyengbam, chairman & chief Cardiologist; Dr Azad Mayanglambam, Cardiology associate and Niteshwori Watham, in-charge of Cardiac ICU of SKY Hospital demonstrated how to perform CPR at critical time using Manikin and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) .
Appreciating the initiative of NBEMS, Dr Shyamkishore highlighted the importance of such life saving skills which can be applied anywhere in the society- at the bus station, sports stadium, near a pond, drowning or during critical medical illness.
