The monsoon session of the Manipur Assembly which the state budget will be tabled for discussion in the house will begin from tomorrow (July 3) in Imphal.
Ahead of the commencement of the session, Imphal west police conducted search operation in Imphal city as a part of security measures.
Manipur Legislative Assembly has completed all the arrangements for the safety and smooth conduct of the sixth session of the ninth assembly.
The session which would continue till July 28 will have 17 seating, officials of the Assembly secretariat said today.
Among other, the monsoon session will discus on Governor's address which was given in the last session of the assembly which was held in the last part of March this year, Budget estimates, 2009-10 and department wise budget allocation.
Meanwhile, source said that the annual outlay of Manipur which would be finalized by the Planning Commission is yet pending.
However, state planning department has prepared a tentative budget estimate for tabling in the house.
Security has been beef up in and around the Assembly complex located in the heart of the Imphal city considering the prevailing law and order situation.
As many as 300 armed security men called out from various police stations, IRB and Manipur Rifles from different units.
Another 150 unarmed personnel like the home guards have also been called to detail during the seating, source said.
Meanwhile, Imphal west police have conducted mopping operation in Alu Gali, Thangal Bazar and some other places at the surrounding of the state Assembly today.
No arrest or rounding of suspected persons reported during the operation.
The assembly secretariat also issued office memorandum stating that materials/articles not related with the business of the house and cell phones will not be allowed to accompany by the MLAs attending the session.
They have to deposit with the security personnel on duty before entering the house.
As the Assembly complex is located in the congested city area, traffic arrangement to avoid traffic jam also made officials of the Assembly secretariat added.
Traffics entering towards the Assembly road from the NH-39 will be totally banned during the Assembly session, officials of the city traffic police said.
In the meantime, oppositions have reportedly ready for putting up various matters like the spate of killing of people by the security forces, controversial circumstances etc to the floor of the house.
