District Council schools just as good as private schools: ADC-SH Councillors

Contrary to general assumption that schools under Autonomous District Council function poorly, the recent results of HSLC examination proves otherwise, expressed many Councillors of ADC Sadar Hills who attended the felicitation of Satmunchon Kipgen, who secured 11 rank in the recently declared HSLC examination.
The felicitation ceremony of Satmunchon Kipgen was organized by the Education Department, District Council Administration, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi at the Multipurpose Hall of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council (SH-ADC), Kangpokpi.
The function was attended by Thangjakam Misao, Vice Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills, executive members and other Councillors, Chief Executive Officer, Addl CEO, inspector of Schools, officials and staffs of education department, officials and staffs of SH-ADC Kpi, etc and the rank holder's parents.
Satmunchon Kipgen was felicitated along with his parents with cash reward of Rs 40,000 by the Education Department of SH-ADC Kangpokpi and with mementoes by various bodies.
Thangjakam Misao appreciated and encouraged Satmunchon Kipgen on the occasion and Chinnu Kipgen, inspector of schools, SH-ADC Kpi expressed contentment on his achievement.
She also said that the achievement of Satmunchon Kipgen speaks in high volume about the hard struggle and contribution of Government schools in the hills especially under Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council towards education sector.
It may be mentioned that Satmunchon Kipgen studied till Class V at Gamnomphai UJB School under Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi and later pursued his high school education at EMRS Gamnom Saparmeina funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and became the first rank holder from Government school in the district.
"I have never heard the product of District Council Schools securing rank in the HSLC examination before Satmunchon Kipgen's achievement", said Damma Vaiphei, Executive Member of ADC Sadar Hills while lauding the position holder.
He also said that it is very fortunate that the Government is giving priority to the education sector and appealed the education department of SH-ADC to put their best efforts while also exhorting parents and guardians to render maximum cooperation towards the schools and children.
Many others who attended the function also spoke on the occasion.
The ceremony ended with a blessing prayer from Th Lhingkhonei Lotzem, Addl CEO, SH-ADC Kangpokpi.
