Ukhrul, June 29 2020:
In a rare case at Ukhrul, a mother and her younger sister who took care of a minor boy in a village quarantine centre have tested positive for COVID-19, though the minor boy who was with them for many days has received a negative result.
CMO of Ukhrul Dr Kapangring during a brief interaction with this correspondent said that the mother and the child of 7 years returned from Delhi in the first week of June.
The mother and child where quarantined at Pharung village centre for more than 10 days.
The mother of the minor boy tested Covid-19 positive on June 16, following which her younger sister (Aunt of the boy), who was living in the village was given permission to take care of the minor boy and they were both housed in the Pharung village quarantine centre, Ukhrul.
Later, the swap sample of the aunt was also declared Covid-19 positive though result of the minor boy still remains negative.
The CMO was at a loss of word to explain how the mother and aunt tested positive while the child tested negative and could not explain the nature of infection.
A rapid response team from Ukhrul District Hospital has immediately evacuated all of them from the village quarantine centre for observation in order to study the health condition and the nature of the minor boy and to provide necessary medication/ treatment in time for both mother and aunt at the Ukhrul District Hospital.
