Imphal, December 18 2018:
In connection with the Loktak Downstream Hydro Electric project, the Loktak Downstream Affected Peoples' Welfare Association (LDAPWA) has appealed the authority concerned to notify the affected people precisely whether the project has been abandoned or otherwise to take up the project at the earliest.
A press statement released by general secretary of LDAPWA conveyed that the project has been delayed for a long time which has added to the grievances of the affected people.
It said that the delay of the said project has adversely affected the agricultural sector like plantation of orange, banana, lemon, guava etc.
It said that the Leimatak basin is the most fertile area for agricultural farming.
The association had submitted a series of memorandum to the Prime Minister, Union Power Minister concerned, Chief Minister and the State Power Minister concerned for immediate implementation of the project with no positive actions till today.
