Below 10 deaths after 29 days, 717 new cases detected

Imphal, June 05 2021:
The daily death cases has dropped below 10 for the first time after 29 days on Saturday as government bulletins reported nine fatalities and 717 new positive cases of Covid-19 .
After reporting 10 and 13 fatalities on May 5 and 6 respectively, the daily death cases dropped to 2 on May 7 .
From the next day onwards, the state reported double digit daily death toll till Friday.
The highest ever single day death toll was recorded on May 19 with 23 fatalities.
On the other hand, despite significant increase in testing, the number of new cases as well as daily positivity rate has been dropping continuously and Saturday recorded 8.71 per cent.
The daily positivity rate fell below 10 per cent for the first time after 35 days.
The last time the state recorded single digit daily positivity rate was on April 30, which recorded 7.98 per cent positivity rate with 271 out of 3398 samples tested returning positive for Covid-19 .

Meanwhile, 5557 new cases and 96 death cases were added in the last seven days while the current month reported 3656 new cases and 65 fatalities.
So far, 26,219 positive cases and 517 fatalities have been reported since the beginning of the current year.
According to official reports, the 717 new cases included 715 people (362 male & 353 female) from among the general population and 2 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (15), JNIMS (31), District Hospitals (455) and other testing centres (216) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (141), Imphal West (245), Thoubal (84), Bishnupur (41), Kakching (47), Ukhrul (6), Churachandpur (97), Chandel (23), Senapati (9), Tamenglong (12), Tengnoupal (1), Kangpokpi (5), Kamjong (1) and Noney (3) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, the State Level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 9 Covid-19 deaths.
The district wise distributions are Imphal West (3), Imphal East (4), Bishnupur (1) and Kakching (1).Three of them died at RIMS, and two each at JNIMS, Shija Hospitals and Babina.
The cumulative number of deaths is 872.In the same period, 740 patients were discharged from home isolation (546), RIMS (14), JNIMS (5) and other Covid care facilities (175).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 54,407 (general population - 50,642 and CAPF personnel - 3,765) .
Number of recovered cases is 44,519 (general population - 40,767 and CAPF personnel - 3,752) and number of active cases is 9,016 (general population - 9,008 and CAPF personnel - 8) .
The recovery rate is 81.82 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 2163 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 985B- type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
District Hospitals and government institutions have 328D,51B filled cylinders and district-wise distribution is Bishnupur (35D,0B), Chandel (32D,7B), Churachandpur (71D,0B), Senapati (32D,0B), Thoubal (60D,20B), Ukhrul (19D,0B), Tamenglong (8D,5B), Jiribam (36D,11B), Moreh (19D,5B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (2D,0B, remaining 17D,21B send for refilling), Noney (2D,0B) and Pherzawl (6D,2B).As of Friday, 4,14,026 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19 and 80,719 of them have got their second dose.
Meanwhile, 62 new positive cases have been detected in Kakching district on Saturday.
One was detected at Ema Hospital, 13 at Jivan Hospital and 48 at the district RAT Centre.
All of them are residents of Kakching district.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (19,563), Imphal East (12,627), Thoubal (4089), Churachandpur (4006), Kangpokpi (1501), Tamenglong (1881), Bishnupur (3031), Senapati (1258), Ukhrul (1178), Kakching (2306), Chandel (934), Noney (520), Tengnoupal (531), Jiribam (495), Kamjong (410) and Pherzawl (77) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (325), Imphal East (235), Thoubal (79), Churachandpur (66), Kangpokpi (22), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (55), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (12), Kakching (42), Chandel (13), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (2), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 17,534 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 20,681 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,42,270 tests per million population against the national average of 2,59,365 TPM.
Case fatality rate climbed down to 1.60 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 8229 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.71 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 7.24 per cent.
