Mega Assam Rifles Ex-servicemen rally held

A mega Assam Rifles Ex-servicemen rally for ex-servicemen of Manipur was conducted by 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IG AR (South) at Khuman Lampak Stadium, today.
The rally elicited participation by more than 800 ex-servicemen from all the districts of the State including World War II veterans, widows and their dependants.
The aim of the rally was to connect with the veterans, strengthen bonds and also acknoledge their contribution made for the country during the prime of their lives, said a statment issued by the 6 AR.
The occasion was graced by Major General Virendra Singh, VSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) as the chief guest and all Sector Commanders of Assam Rifles in Manipur and other Assam Rifles officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Major General Virendra Singh, VSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) welcomed the august gathering and exhorted the State Government Departments, Banks, Hospitals and other civil agencies to render maximum support to the veterans who had dedicated their lives to protect the nation.
He also thanked all the media persons, State Government officials and civil officials for their cooperation and attendance at the event.
The IG also felicitated the Veer Naris, World War II veterans and other ex-servicemen.
A number of stalls were setup to address grievances and provide facilities including CSD, medical assistance, banking, Aadhar and PAN Card Registration etc.
The needy veterans were also distributed various medical aids like wheel chairs, spectacles, walking sticks and hearing aids at the venue.
The event was followed by lunch for all participants.
The band of Assam Rifles performed during the event.
The ex-servicemen thanked HQ IGAR (South) for organising the event.
