Imphal, February 22 2011:
The second session of the trial of Hopeson Ningshen for killing of the then SDO, Kasom Khullen, Dr Th Kishan and his two subordinate staff was conducted today in the court of the Special Judge, CBI, OP Saini House, New Delhi.
The first trial against Hopeson was started on January 31 last in the same court.
The CBI investigating into the murder of the SDO and his two subordinate staff, in its charge-sheet, charged Hopseson with "criminal conspiracy" in the robbing and kidnapping for ransom, murder and withholding the stolen mobile phone of Dr Kishan under section 392 read with 120-B IPC, section 302 read with 120-B IPC, section 16 of UAP (A) read with 120-B IPC and section 411 IPC.
Witnesses will be produced in the court from March 21 to 25 at the expense of the CBI as per the SC ruling.
Meanwhile, a statement of the JAC formed in connection with the brutal killing of Dr Th Kishan, Y Token and A Rajen signed by its chairman S Tikendrajit recalled that the family members of the victims had not received any demand of ransom money after the kidnapping of the three.
"The JAC wants to know if ransom was demanded only from Dr Kishan and if so what then would be the motive behind the killing of the other two.
The present line of framing charges against the accused betrays a lame strategy to reduce and fit every crime in the region within the easy ambit of ransom and extortion," the statement observed.
Saying that nothing has been heard about the other three co-accused 'Major' RI Yurhor @ Abo Sibo, 'Town Commander', 'Sergeant Major' SK Themsong @ Ashang and 'Corporal' Johnny of NSCN (IM), the JAC asked if Hopseson is a threat to "the unity, integrity, security or sovereignty of India" then how compromised has been the safety of the Indian democracy when the other three co-accused are still "absconding" .
