GWMPC throws weight behind dialogue

Imphal, December 29 2016:
Ningthouja Lancha, convenor of Goodwill Mission for Peaceful Co-existence, Manipur, (GWMPC) has expressed the need for a political dialogue between the United Naga Council (UNC), the Central and State Governments in order to end the ongoing economic blockade.
Speaking to media persons at Adimjati, Chingmeirong, Ningthouja Lancha said that both the State Government and the UNC have expressed their desire to hold a dialogue with one another during their meet with the GWMPC on different occasions.

The GWMPC has been waiting for an official reply from the Central Government for the last three days as it (Centre) has a big role in ensuring a successful meeting between the State Government and the UNC, he added.
Ashang Kasar (secretary administration, GWMPC) said that the UNC and the State Government expressed their desire for peaceful talks during their meeting with the GWMPC on December 26 and 27 respectively.
A memorandum has been submitted to Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh today he said and added that there is a strong need for the Centre, the State Government and the UNC to sit down and talk things over to bring to an end the hardships faced by the people.
The memorandum also highlighted the need for the Centre to intervene and help bring a solution before the end of the month, he added.
