Minister Nemcha Kipgen inaugurates Senior Citizens Home

Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen along with Education Minister and also the local MLA, Thokchom Radheshyam had inaugurated Senior Citizens Home at Salungpham Kangyambem Laikol Maya, Thoubal District under the scheme Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSrC), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India through Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur yesterday.
Addressing the gatherings as Chief Guest, Minister Nemcha expressed firm belief that with the opening of this old age home, senior citizens living in and around this area will serve as a second home for them.
She assured that the government will extend all possible assistance to make this centre a successful one with all the required amenities and facilities like health care, banks, well-equipped kitchen with healthy diets, to name some, for the home inmates.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the initiative of Chief Minister N.Biren Singh, Minister Nemcha highlighted the various welfare schemes introduced by the government specially meant for older persons.
She encouraged all to avail such benefits meant for them.
Later, Minister Nemcha announced that through DSWO, she will deliver benefits for older persons for the inmates of this newly inaugurated home under the scheme - Chief Minister Gi Shottharaba Singgi Tenbang, Nemcha sternly exclaimed that those old age homes which are not properly functioning as per the norms and guidelines of the Ministry will be blacklisted.
Delivering his Presidential speech, Minister Th.Radheshyam said that it is the responsibility of the younger generations to ensure that the lives of the senior citizens are secure and well settled.
Presently, there are 21 older persons residing in this newly inaugurated home.
The inaugural function is organized by Rural People Development Organisation (RPDO), Heirok, Thoubal.
Adhyaksha Thoubal Zilla Parishad, Smt Hashina Begum, Up- Adhyaksha Thoubal Zilla Parishad, T.Nunghi Singh, Co-ordinator RRTC, North East India, Wangbal, Shri Kh.
Kumar Singh and District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Thoubal Shri Kameshor Singh also graced the occasion as guests of honour.
