Imphal, February 21 2016 :
BJP Mani-pur Pradesh has severely cri- ticised the budget estimates tabled by the State Government on February 19 at the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary M Ashnikumar remarked that the State budget did not reflect any concern of the Congress Government for public welfare.
The State budget for 2016-17 was prepared in the interest of some Ministers and contractors.
It contains nothing which would benefit rural people and people of hill areas.
The existing condition of Lower Primary and Primary School education is rather pathetic.
Moreover, RMSA and SSA are being implemented in the State just for name's sake.
The present condition of higher secondary schools and colleges demand immediate attention of the Government.
Private schools are mushrooming in the State as most of the Govt schools are virtually defunct.
Lambasting the State Government's attitude of ad-hocism rather than working with a vision and this was reflected glaringly in the State budget.
The Government has no clear policy on transport infrastructure, health care facilities and education, Ashnikumar asserted.
The State budget does not say anything about preservation of forests.
The public distribution system is also dysfunctional.
It is said that there are 250 fair price shops in the State but they exist only on paper.
He also decried the act of keeping the National Food Security Act at bay till date.
Ashnikumar then questioned the State Cabinet's decision to abolish 501 posts in Commerce and Industries Department.
Even as the Central Government has introduced many social infrastructure projects and social security schemes, the State Government is unable to implement any of these projects effectively, he decried.
