Not intentional, claims KRF

Claiming hands in the death of two youths in the course of interrogation, Kuki Revolutionary Front, a SoO signatory group under the umbrella of United People's Front (UPF), today clarified that the two victims were members of KCP (Nando) faction and their death was an intentional design while con- veying condolence to the be-reaved families.
Speaking to media persons, Lincoln Kuki, Public Relations Officer of the outfit maintained that on May 10, Abung (20), Premananda (20) and Bishal (13) were apprehended on suspicious ground and interrogated.
Earlier the trio had stated that they were labourers in the construction work of Mapao Christian School and live near the new school building construction site at Mapao Khullen Family line.
Later Bishal revealed all the facts which was also recorded, said the outfit's PRO.
Unfortunately, during the course of interrogation, Abung and Premananda died but their death was not intentional, clarified the PRO while adding that the outfit never indulge in communal activities so far which can harm the peaceful coexistence of the people.
He continued Bishal revealed that Abung and Premananda were members of KCP (Nando) faction and also disclosed that Abung was a Corporal while Premananda was a Lance Corporal in the outfit.
Bishal claimed that he had been compelled to join the outfit only two/three days back since the outfit had warned that he would be eliminated if he did not agree to join, the PRO further alleged while adding that Bishal also revealed that his family members have no knowledge regarding his joining the outfit since they warned him not to disclose.
Bishal further disclosed that the duo was in possession of one big bag containing huge arms and ammunition including explosive devices which they handed over to one unidentified Nepali man and again warned him not to disclose it to anyone.
The PRO also said that cadres of KCP have frequently resorted to firing and extortion in Mapao area is well known by the public as well as the security forces.
Lincoln Kuki urged the people not take the issue in a communal manner since it was not done with an intent to kill them while conveying the outfit's condolence to the bereaved families and relatives.
He further appealed, particularly to the Meetei community, not to resort to any communal activities which can perturb the prevailing peaceful coexistence.
Meanwhile, KRF also condemned the high handedness of the Assam Rifles and State security forces in apprehending 7 cadres in connection with the unfortunate death of Abung and Premananda while slamming the security forces for using communal tones.
The outfit leader also appealed to the Government to release its cadres who have no connection with the incident at the earliest.
