Continuing its drive to cleanse the Education Department under its ONK, the proscribed KYKL has rounded up three master minds involved in a number of effecting fake appointments in the said department.
Producing the three accused in front of the media somewhere at Churachandpur district today, Lt Greg of ONK, who was assigned with the task of briefing the newsmen by captain Ahanjao of ONK, named the three as DI/DDO Thangkholet Haokip of Salbung village, CCpur; DI Takhellambam Promeshkumar of Ningthoukhong Ward Number III and AI Takhellambam Shantikumar Singh of Ningthoukhong Ward number IV.
All were posted at Henglep sub-division.
As punishment for their acts, all three received a bullet each on the left leg late evening today at a place at Bishnupur.
Speaking to the media, Lt Greg said that three used to take anything between Rs 30,000 to Rs 2 lakhs from each fake appointment effected.
Altogether 49 such teachers were appointed, he said.
The total amount of money taken by the three for the fake appointments was Rs 42 lakhs, said the spokesman.
Out of this AI Shantikumar received Rs 24 lakhs, Di Thangkholet Haokip Rs 12 lakhs and DI Prameshkumar Rs 6 lakhs.
The teachers who were appointed on the sly did not attend office and drew a monthly salary of Rs 7,500, said the spokesman.
Again out of this the three used to deduct Rs 500 to Rs 1000 from each teacher per month, said Greg.
Palms of higher officials and personnel of the Vigilance Department were greased with lakhs of rupees to shut them up during times of transfer and new posting, said the spokesman further.
The three master minds were hauled up after thorough investigation by the ONK for six months, said the spokesman and added that it now has the names of other officials involved in the fake appointment scam.
All the teachers appointed on the sly by the three will not be allowed to continue their work, added the spokesman.
Out of all the money taken by the three, KYKL has managed to recover Rs 34 lakhs, said the spokesman and added that this amount will now be used for the revolutionary causes.
Going on the offensive against the corruption that has eaten into the Education Department, the spokesman said that the problem is so deep rooted now that the Government will not be able to say the number of teachers under its pay roll.
The vicious circle of fake appointments run deep for it involves the highest rung officers to the lowest rung.
Sounding a stern warning, the spokesman said that anyone summoned by the outfit should come and added that if they try to tamper with the documents and records they will receive harsher punishment.
Such elements will never be allowed to go scot-free and KYKL will be after them for years to come.
The names of the 49 teachers appointed on the sly by the three were also announced.

A former ZEO and cashier took the share for the appointment of two of the teachers.
