Imphal, October 30 2009:
The outlawed RPF has conveyed best wishes on the occasion of Kut, the largest festival of Kuki-Chin-Mizo group.
In a press release issued by its Publicity Secretary Leisemba, the outfit wished that the festival may cultivate a healthy work culture to all communities of Manipur.
At one point of time, Kut festival was losing its significance.
But the commitment of Kuki-Chin-Mizo people to keep alive the tradition and heritage of the past, Kut festival has once again become the most popular festival of the group.
Life of hill people in the entire South East Asia including Manipur is synonymous with work.
Hill people are busy throughout the year in jhum cultivation, felling and collecting firewood, hunting, cultivation of vegetables, fishing etc.
In such a busy life, Kut provides the perfect occasion for recreation and celebration of the year long labour, the outfit observed.
The RPF wished that the Kut festival may dispel any misunderstanding, jealousy, conflict, contention and mistrust that may be existing amongst the people of Manipur.
Addition of several programmes in Kut festival in which people of different communities can participate shows desire of the Kuki-Chin-Mizo people for peaceful and harmonious co-existence among different communities of the State, the outfit noted.
