One cultivator sustained injuries when a bomb exploded near Khurai Chairenthong along Imphal-Ukhrul road this morning.
According to information culled from the spot, a powerful bomb went off at about 9 am on the eastern side of the highway, a few steps North of Chairenthong.
The explosion wounded one Md Jalil (50) s/o late Abdul Gani of Khomidok Mamang Leikai.
He was coming to join other cultivators for harvesting paddy when the bomb went off suddenly.
With shrapnel wounds on the right thigh and wrist, he was taken to Raj Polyclinic and said to be out of danger.

When two vehicles went past the blast site, other vehicles moving in the rear turned back and stopped at Khurai.
Another convoy of security forces came from the opposite direction moments after the explosion.
However, there was neither AR convoy nor civilian vehicles at the blast site when the bomb went off.
Another source said that the bomb did not look like it was planted on the highway.
An object was seen on the road side soon after the AR vehicles went past the spot.
But it cannot be said with certainty whether it was the particular object which went off.
It is also not known whether the explosive was hand grenade or IED.
Among the articles found at the blast site, there were shredded pieces of clothes of camouflage colour.
In the meantime, AR troops reportedly recovered a remote control handset from a lane across the blast site.
Later in the afternoon, local people blocked Imphal-Ukhrul highway at Khomidok in protest against the bomb blast.
Imphal East district police drove away the agitated people and re-opened the highway.
In connection with the bomb blast, a case has been registered in Lamlai police station.
