Last rites of slain scribe performed

The last rites of television journalist Thangjam Dwijamani alias Nanao who was killed while on duty in police firing were performed at Thangmeiband Cheiraoching yesterday.
After conducting post mortem examination at RIMS morgue, the corpse of the slain journalist was brought to Manipur Press Club through a procession.
A huge number of people led by Chief Minister O Ibobi paid last respect and floral tributes to the mortal remains of Dwijamani amidst teary scene there.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Speaker Th Lokeshore, Cabinet Ministers Dr Kh Ratankumar, Irengbam Hemochandra, AK Mirabai, Md Abdul Nasir, MLA Joykishan, journalists, actors, artistes, family members, relatives, friends and others also paid floral tributes to the deceased.

Dwijamani's body was then brought to his native locality, Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai through a large procession.
Later, his mortal remains were consigned to flames according to Hindu rituals at a place at Thangmeiband Cheiraoching, where a memorial complex on Dwijamani's name would be set up.
